WHAT’S KICKIN’ VOL.1 A joint effort between What’s Cookin’ and Mule Freedom – hence the clever name. It is a 15 track compilation of bands and artists that have played (or in a couple of cases will one day hopefully play) at What’s Cookin’. |

| WHAT’S COOKIN’ www.whatscookin.co.uk is a regular club night held at the Sheepwalk pub in Leytonstone High Road in East London. It happens every Wednesday and some Saturdays. It was originally established by Ramblin’ Steve Ferguson in 2004 inspired by the long-running Sunday shindig, Come Down And Meet The Folks in Camden. What’s Cookin’ moved to its current home in February 2005. Initially favouring country and Americana, the club has since broadened its scope to include folk, blues and rock. Mainly featuring local and UK acts, the club regularly features visiting American artists, who often make this the only London stop on UK tours | |||

At What’s Cookin’ www.whatscookin.co.uk - entry is free and tipping is encouraged, all of which goes to the musicians. This contributes to a healthy relationship of trust between musicians, promoter and audience and the ‘Best dressed little stage in London’!
MULE FREEDOM established in March 1998 as a fortnightly Americana club night by music journalist and DJ Gerry Ranson at The Weavers, North London’s legendary roots music venue. Started when the ‘alt.country’ movement was in the ascendant and featured early gigs by many acts now integral to the London scene. FOLLOWING the closure of The Weavers in April 1999, Mule Freedom lay dormant as a brand name until being relaunched as www.mulefreedom.com , an online music magazine in May 2005. Gerry also DJs regularly at What’s Cookin’. WHAT’S KICKIN’ VOL.1
