Walking Home At Ten

Tom Burgess is a Basildon born, Southend-based singer songwriter who learnt guitar aged 13 by practising Oasis songs. After a few years playing in his bedroom Tom followed the natural progression of joining a band, albeit a covers band. The band played mostly Indie-rock which forced Tom to move from his Gallagher influenced open-chord style to power chords. Tom then concluded that he'd had enough of playing other people's songs and started to write his own. His songs were met with much appreciation from his peers in the local music scene.
Following this he was dragged by a certain Tophatted Seasider to perform at 'the Cobra Club' at the Sunrooms hosted by Mark Schubert and then Shangri-la at The Railway Hotel with Lance Cusack. Tom then formed 'The Mod Cons' and took up the duties of Lead Singer and Songwriter, after playing the big venues in Southend The Mod Cons recorded their first album but disbanded before it was released due to 'musical similarities'. It has been commented that Tom is Southend’s answer to "Badly Drawn Boy". Tom continues to play his music either on his own or with a backing band and released his first solo album in 2009.
