Harbans Srih's Vybesmen | |||

...or, 'What Harbans 'Starsky & Hutch' Srih did next!'
As well as his excellent, ever-growing catalogue of work with The Tito Lopez Combo, Harbans has also found the time to pull this little gem out the bag. |

|
Aided and abetted by usual suspects Winston 'Massive Attack' Blissett and sax king Theo Travis, The Vybesmen take a - you guessed it - vibraphone-driven detour (courtesy of Boris Hunka's exquisite vibes skills) into a world of moody soundscapes and rock-steady grooves.
Elements of Roy Budd and John Barry's best 60's soundtrack work mingles effortlessly with some cool vocal work from singer Kirsten McClure and that ever-present thumping drum kit, this time seemingly like some menacing force rumbling just beneath the surface.
In a word: Cinematic.
A more than worthy addition to this man's already impressive body of work. £12.50 Also available on Zingg - 'Tito Lopez Combo' - 'Our Man in Bombay' - 7inch vinyl only £3.50 As featured on the Craig Charles Funk show BBC Radio6 |
